Pregnancy transforms everything - your posture, your breath, your ligaments, your pelvic balance, and the way your uterus sits and moves within your body. While traditional prenatal massage offers relaxation, it doesn’t address the deeper structural shifts happening as your baby grows. These changes affect comfort, mobility, and how smoothly your body can adapt as you move toward birth.

Our approach goes far beyond general pain relief. It is clinical, intentional, and centered on preparing your body for the demands of labor. Through abdominal therapy, ligament balancing, sacral work, and functional positioning, we help the uterus find its most optimal alignment. This creates more ease during pregnancy and sets up better conditions for labor and fetal engagement. Many clients begin care because they’re uncomfortable—but continue because they feel stronger, more aligned, and more confident as they approach birth, creating more space in your belly for baby.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

"Jane is absolutely amazing! I began seeing her for prenatal massages, and she has worked wonders for my sciatica and pelvic pain. The pregnancy pillows she uses make it comfortable for me to lay on my stomach and back, which has been such a relief. Jane also takes the time to teach me simple techniques I can use at home for pain relief and explains why certain areas of my body may feel tighter. Her passion for helping mamas feel their best truly shines through in every session!"

What Is Prenatal Abdominal Therapy?

Prenatal abdominal therapy is a gentle, targeted form of manual work that focuses on the uterus, the ligaments that support it, the pelvic bowl, the diaphragm, the abdominal wall, the sacrum, and the surrounding soft tissues.

During pregnancy, the uterus expands quickly, and the ligaments responsible for holding it in place can become strained, restricted, or imbalanced. This strain can lead to pelvic pain, round ligament discomfort, pubic symphysis pressure, SI joint instability, rib tightness, difficulty breathing, and even challenges with fetal positioning that influence how labor unfolds.

Abdominal therapy helps restore balance, mobility, and alignment so your body can function the way it’s designed to throughout pregnancy. The work is gentle, safe, and deeply supportive — offering meaningful relief while creating better conditions for both pregnancy and birth.

Why Uterus Positioning Matters for Birth

The uterus isn’t a fixed structure—it’s suspended within the pelvis by a network of ligaments that are constantly adapting to the baby’s growth, your posture, and everyday movement. When these ligaments become tight, strained, or imbalanced, the uterus can rotate, tilt, or shift slightly off-center. This may not feel dramatic on the outside, but internally it can change how your baby sits in the pelvis, how efficiently they engage, and how evenly pressure is applied to the cervix during labor. Many women notice this as lingering discomfort, uneven pelvic pressure, persistent rib or round ligament pain, or a baby who seems to favor one side.

Balanced uterine positioning can create a more spacious, aligned environment for both pregnancy and birth. When the uterus and its ligaments have the mobility they need, babies often settle more comfortably into the pelvis, contractions can coordinate more effectively, and the early stages of labor tend to unfold with greater ease. While no technique can promise a specific outcome, supporting optimal uterine alignment is one of the most meaningful ways to prepare the body for labor. This work enhances comfort during pregnancy and lays the foundation for a smoother, more functional birth experience.

What A Session Looks Like

Initial Assessment & Positioning
Each session begins with a brief assessment so we can understand how your body is adapting to pregnancy - how your posture is shifting, how your breath is moving, and how your uterus and pelvis are responding to the changes of each trimester.

The Belly Work
We begin by positioning you comfortably on your back, and depending on your gestational stage, you may be supported at a gentle 45-degree angle. From there, we move into tailored abdominal therapy that meets your body exactly where you are in pregnancy. The work is gentle, slow, and deeply supportive, helping the soft tissues, ligaments, and uterus find more mobility, balance, and ease without force.
We address the full abdominal area — the upper belly, the sides, and the lower region above the pubic bone (with lower work reserved for 20+ weeks). Upper abdominal work creates more space for your diaphragm and rib cage, supporting easier breathing, better digestion, and relief from round ligament strain. Lower abdominal work helps soften tension around the pubic bone and broad ligaments, bringing relief to the areas that carry the most load. This portion of the session is profoundly relaxing; many clients drift into sleep. You’ll also learn simple belly massage strokes to use at home between appointments.

The Sacral & Tailbone Work
In the sidelying position, we focus on the pelvis, hips, sacrum, tailbone, and lower back to ease strain and bring balance back to the structures that support your uterus. This work includes gentle sacral techniques that help release the uterosacral ligament—one of the key ligaments connecting the uterus to the spine. Releasing this tension takes pressure off both the uterus and the back body, creating more comfort, space, and mobility as your pregnancy progresses.

Full-Body Therapeutic Massage & Nervous System Regulation
Once the core and pelvic work is complete, the session expands into a full-body therapeutic massage and gentle nervous system reset. This part of the session focuses on the areas carrying the most load—your back, shoulders, hips, legs, and feet—helping your whole body move with more ease, stability, and comfort. The work naturally supports deeper rest, steadier breathing, and a calmer, more grounded state as you transition back into daily life.

Movement & Home Care Integration
Before you leave, we review self-care such as positioning guidance and belly massage to help you maintain balance between sessions. We also discuss any referrals you may need for your prenatal journey.

I left with that zen, heavy feeling (almost like a runner's high after a long run?!) and after a nap, felt great and energized! I also appreciated the debrief after our massage where she gave me some feedback on areas to work on and recommendations for how to do so. Highly recommend!”

Frequently Asked Questions
About Prenatal Massage

Pregnancy is exciting, but it can come with lots of questions. Here are some of the ones we hear most often from our moms-to-be

  • Yes. When performed by a properly trained prenatal massage therapist, prenatal massage can be safely performed during the first trimester, avoiding the lower back and abdomen. If mama has a history of fertility barriers, her medical provider may need to confirm that prenatal massage is safe.

  • Yes. Prenatal massage is safe and highly beneficial when performed by a trained professional. It helps reduce stress, relieve back and hip pain, and improve sleep.

  • Yes, we use supportive cushions for face-down up to 20 weeks and side-lying positioning with extra cushioning to ensure comfort and safety for you and your baby.

  • You can lay down on your belly in our pregnancy-safe cushioning until 20-25 weeks, depending on your comfort. After 20 weeks, lying on your belly (despite proper cushioning) can cause strain on the round ligament connected to your uterus, which can lead to mild back pain. It is not dangerous for your baby, but it can cause discomfort after the massage, despite feeling good in the moment.
